Common questions
Is DriveInstruct really free?
Yes. The Free plan is free forever, no card, no time limit. It covers your lesson diary, calendar, automated email reminders and DVSA student progress tracking. When you want a marketplace profile, online payments and route planning, upgrade to Pro at £10 a month.
What happens after the 2-month trial?
Every new account gets full Pro features free for 2 months. When the trial ends you drop to the Free plan automatically, so you keep your students, diary and data with nothing to pay. Upgrade to Pro any time to switch the paid features back on.
How does £10 compare to Total Drive?
Total Drive starts from around £18 a month. Pro is £10 all-in and includes a marketplace profile that puts you in front of new students searching in your area, which Total Drive does not offer. You get the diary, reminders, payments and progress tracking they have, plus lead generation they do not, for less money.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. You get full Pro access for 2 months with no card required, then Free forever if you choose not to subscribe. You only add a card when you decide to stay on Pro or School.
Is DriveInstruct free for PDIs?
Yes. PDIs (trainee driving instructors) get the core diary, reminders and student progress portal free while they train, the same as the Free plan. Marketplace listings and Stripe payments unlock when you qualify as an ADI and upgrade to Pro.
What are messaging credits?
Each SMS or email reminder uses a credit from your monthly allowance. Free includes 50 email reminders a month with SMS available as a top-up. Pro gets 100 SMS + 200 emails. School gets 500 SMS + 1,000 emails. You can top up any time from your dashboard.
What is the 2% Stripe platform fee?
When a student pays you online through DriveInstruct on the Pro or School plan, we take 2% of the transaction. There is no fee on cash lessons, and the 2% only applies when you actually receive a payment.
Can I switch plans?
Yes, at any time. Move between Free, Pro and School from your billing settings. Downgrades keep your data, they just switch off the paid features until you upgrade again.
Is there a per-instructor fee on the School plan?
No. School is a flat £49 a month for up to 10 instructors, with no per-seat charges on top.
